It’s Jan. 31, which means there’s only one more day of skipping the booze if you’re observing Dry January.
But if you don’t drink alcohol or — like me — will be transitioning into Damp February, there’s a new bottle shop in San Diego offering a wide selection of alcohol-free beer, wine and spirits.
At Monday Morning on Garnet Avenue, the sober curious can find a wide selection of drinks including 105 beers from all around the world, canned craft cocktails, sparkling rose, spirits styled after whiskey and gin, adaptogens, kava-based spirits like Kava Haven and more. The shop also has an adjacent community space where guests can hang out, work and socialize.
Just over a year before opening Monday Morning in Pacific Beach last November, founder Zane Curtis gave up drinking. Prior to making his decision, he often questioned whether he had a drinking problem, but in June 2023, he decided that quitting was a way to be a better husband and father to his kids.
“My life was good. I was married, I had kids, I had a job, I was exercising, I didn't really have a reason why, but I constantly had the question around my drinking,” Curtis said.
